HistoryThis neighborhood, located in New York City, was settled back at the beginning of the 19th century. There have been lots of different cultures that have been in the area including Italian-Americans, Irish-Americans, and Norwegian-Americans. The neighborhood was named after a revolutionary war veteran named Charles Carroll. In 1846 the gardens section of the neighborhood was built. These can be described as a section of gardens that is displayed in the front of all the historical brownstone homes. The historic district is located between President street on the north side, Smith Street on the west side, 3rd Place on the south side, and Hoyt Street on the east side. It is well known for the beautiful streets that are lined with trees and the gardens in the front and back of the historical brownstone homes.
